Start by Defining Your Goal: Relaxation or Pain Relief

The most important first step is understanding what you actually want from massage therapy.

Some people are looking for:

  • Stress relief and relaxation

  • Muscle tension release

  • Pain management (e.g., sciatica, trapped nerve, back pain)

  • Rehabilitation support after injury

  • Postural correction or long-term musculoskeletal care

These goals require very different approaches. A spa-style massage may help with relaxation, but chronic pain or nerve-related issues often require a more clinical, assessment-based approach.
