Look for a Therapist with a Strong Educational Foundation

A high-quality massage therapist should have a solid base education in anatomy, physiology, or healthcare before completing specialist massage courses.

In my experience, therapists who first complete structured schooling in health sciences (such as physiotherapy, medical training, or health and social care) tend to understand the body more deeply before adding advanced techniques later.

Then, additional specialist training builds on that foundation.

This layered education matters because it influences:

  • How safely a therapist works

  • How accurately they assess your condition

  • How effectively they choose treatment techniques
